I was born and raised in Pueblo,
Colorado. I attended a private Catholic school from kindergarten through
8th grade, then transferred to a public high school.
After attending the University of Southern Colorado for undergraduate training,
I entered veterinary school at Colorado State University. My doctor of
veterinary medicine degree was completed in 1997.
Originally my focus was on humane education and animal welfare. Then a friend performed Reiki on me and I couldn't believe what I felt. I had to learn more about it. I took classes in Reiki I, Reiki II and then completed my Master Level training. I also studied Healing Touch levels 1, 2A and 2B.
I began my energy work practice in 1998. For animals, I do limited veterinary work and really prefer owners use another vet for traditional medicine while I focus on holistic therapies. In December 2005, my husband Dr. Mike Jewell (also a veterinarian) and I opened our own clinic. The Pet Wellness Clinic offers both traditional and holistic veterinary care. My husband and I share our home with 2 dogs and 5 cats. (Click here to view my rescued family members.) I still have an interest in humane education and try to educate people about animal welfare issues. In my "spare time", I enjoy reading, movies and gardening.
